Punta Gorda city council busy fighting with each other over new city manager.....so
up to the plate steps "Team Punta Gorda". Private group of citizens push for a comprehensive downtown master plan. They have met with several "design" firms looking for ways to expedite the city hurricane recovery and redevelopment. The city to its credit has held its own public input meetings.

Charlotte County government may resolve to join Lee Co. in the purchase of Babcock Ranch. Any monies earmarked for the purchase would be by public vote in 2006. At 142 sq. miles it would dump a premium amount of land into the public lands in Charlotte Co and Lee Co. Besides all the environment interests are some 50 million gal. of water a day which could be produced via ground water aquifers. Water in Fl. will be critical for continued growth and at this point no one is looking to the Gulf.
Burnt Store hearings to be held to hear developer's plan to "pay" for 2 miles of 4 lanes to Burnt Store Rd. Expect it to be approved.
